“Pleading Down A Careless Driving Charge”

I was recently charged with Careless Driving. Thank God no one was hurt in the accident but now I need to plea down this charge.

I was driving a friend to school, when I realized I needed to turn around, so I checked my mirrors, and saw a car behind me in the left-hand lane, I went to switch lanes (from right to left). The car behind me must of been speeding because it smashed into me and went flying into the ditch on the other side of the road.

The reason I was charged was because when I was changing lanes my friends coffee spilled and I was distracted.

I just need to know which charge I could/should plead down to ?

The obvious choice, to me, which appears to be supported by the facts is Lane Change Not in Safety.
