“Uninsured Borrowed Car”

My car went to shop friends said I could drive a car they had sitting there, I told them not without ins. was told it is insured,I had a accident my fault police tell me no ins. I get poed so police question borrowed vehicle owner and charge her with not having ins. she goes to court is found quilty and fined borrowed vehicle is gone no problems there, but now the vehicle I hit ins. company is telling me I have to pay for damage to there insured vehicle if I don t pay they will take me to court. My question am I stuck and have to pay I have no way out.
