My husband is currently incarcerated and owes $17,000 in traffic fines he's accumulated over the past 20 years. We've been hearing from a few people that there is a way to reduce provincial traffic fines and set up a payment plan. He's decided this is it and to turn his life around. It's going to be difficult for him to be successful if he cannot drive and has $17k looming over his head. I was told before it was called "reduction of fines for undue hardship" but nobody can tell me how to initiate this process nor the full details of said program. I even called the provincial fines hotline and they said they had never heard of such program, yet it has been done before. Any information would be greatly appreciated, it's been quite frustrating trying to figure this all out.
