Improper Stop

Unread post by rav2k »

Greetings,

Tonight I got slapped with a ticket. Improper Stop - Traffic Signal At Intersection 144 (5) Basically I work downtown and got stuck between a crossing walk way and a light. There were more than one vehicles stopped, but for some reason the officer selected me. What I primarily would like to know is (a) Will this cost me demerits point? I've tried looking up 144(5) in the OHTA. They show subsection 144 but nothing on (5) (b) Is it worth fighting for insurance purposes?

Any information will help

-thanks

144.

Where to stop – intersection

(5) A driver who is directed by a traffic control signal erected at an intersection to stop his or her vehicle shall stop,

(a) at the sign or roadway marking indicating where the stop is to be made;

(b) if there is no sign or marking, immediately before entering the nearest crosswalk; or

(c) if there is no sign, marking or crosswalk, immediately before entering the intersection.

The offence has no demerit points. All offences however can impact your insurance regardless of associated points.
