Failed To Stop School Bus / Insurance Rates / Tickets

Unread post by Sammymmysa »

Hello! My sister is freaking out. Today she failed to Stop for a school bus. She said she didn't even realize it until the driver honked at her. No cops pulled her over. But she is extremely worried.

Can you please help us with some questions ( only if you are sure about the answers because she is really freaking out)

If she was reported by the the bus driver or witness, would she get a ticket in the mail or would the officer show up at her door?

How long before receiving a ticket ?

Also, would demerit points be involved ?

She is Not the owners of the car is her husband, if she gets a ticket it would be under her husband name?

Does Getting a ticket as a owner have an impact in your car insurance ?

Are school buses equipped with cameras now?

Thank you in advance for all your help!

They would show up to the address of the registered owner.

Anywhere up to 6 months.

No, because they would likely charge the owner in this situation.

The ticket will be issued to the owner and will need to be paid if you ever want to renew your stickers again.

No.

It's not uncommon these days for buses to be equipped with multiple cameras. Although, they are probably used more for passengers, not recording license plates.

Any updates on this one? My friend is in the same situation as your sister was - a witness clicked pics of his car and license plate and to top it off he spoke to the witness and apologized for this.
