Hi guys,
I went in for trial today, and the justice of the peace didn't show up! Everyone's trials were adjourned to a later date.
Can this help my case at all? Apart from the over 13months, since even with the adjournment, it's only been 6 months since the charge.
I asked if I can apply for costs (time off work, travel...this is the 4th time I ...

Re: red light camera caught me during the right turn
Were right hand turns allowed on red? If they were (or even if they weren't) go speak to a prosecutor. Should get dropped if they were allowed, and you should get a great discount even if you did run the red.
Remember, camera tickets don't show up on insurance, so all you have to worry about is the fine.

My observations at traffic court in Markham
I went in to just watch some cases, hoping to see someone actually fight a charge (plead not guilty).
Observations:
1) A deal is offered to everyone. People with multiple charges had most/some dropped if they agreed to plead guilty to one. I heard up to 88 in a 60 being dropped to 75 in a 60 (no points, haha they get everyone on "no points" and ...

Re: How to beat this 29 over ticket. Trial very soon.
^^ Thanks for the update!
Yes, this seems to be what happens on a regular basis...what I have yet to see is a recollection of a case that actually "went to trial" without a "deal" and was stayed/not guilty.
I'll give you one of those (not to hijack the thread).
Defendant was over and ticketed at 30-ish over. No reduction on the ticket. (this ...

Re: Getting a stay based on incomplete disclosure
^^ Ok, that clarifies the radar reading.
Should I ask again so that they see I am persistent? I could just wait and never get it.
Also, perhaps they are processing my actual disclosure request as we speak? Like I said, the disclosure I got was stamped with a mid-July date, before I actually asked for disclosure. Seems like the officer provided ...

Getting a stay based on incomplete disclosure
Hey guys,
Charged end of June, 80 in a 60 (500m before 80 zone begins...but that's besides the point)
Requested trial beginning of July, in person.
Received a court date (October) at the end of July.
Requested disclosure beginning of August (delivered in person), including a request for the radar manual the officer used. They made a photocopy ...

Cool, thanks. Hopefully in the smaller town where I was charged, they won't.

Any updates?
Yes, you should be specific. If your disclosure request is focused, specific and relevant to the charge, it dramatically increases your chances of getting a stay if they omit something. Usually the big bone of contention is the manual. Many cases get stayed every year because the Crown feels they don't have to provide it, and they ...

Interpreter request
Hi,
I received a ticket in Guelph, ON. I have started to read up on ticketcombat.com. He happened to mentioned that in a smaller town, they may have a pretty hard time finding an interpreter.
Now, I am fluent in English, but I wasn't born here, and could pretend...
Is this risky or do lots of people do this?
Thanks in advance.

Re: My experience in court.
Thanks for the detailed account. However, as you realized, everyone is offered this "deal". But what's $50-$100 reduction in the ticket amount when you are possibly dinged thousands more over the next three years due to your conviction, regardless?
For my first ticket, I was too lazy to request disclosure, etc, etc, on time and so I took the deal ...
