Re: Highway Question

Thanks for the feedback, and sorry I had a typo in my original post, should have read the farthest right hand lane, but I think you understood. I am surprised that this is legal, it sort of ticks me off because I am trying to do right by waiting in the long line of traffic and these jokers think that there time is more valuable than mine and try to "jump the line" What I have also noticed (kind of the reverse), is when traffic is all buggered up and someone in the right lane is trying to switch to the off ramp lane for the exit and they cross the solid white lane, instead of waiting ...

Highway Question

Hypothetically speaking here. If someone is driving on the highway and the highway traffic is complete gridlock "Welcome to the GTA", and this guy who is driving in the left most lane, then proceeds to change lanes to the on-ramp, then speed past a big long line of traffic, only to merge back in to the left lane again, and so on with ever on-ramp. He is switching lanes on the dotted white and is doing so somewhat safely with the indicator and what not, but as I watched this guy, then another do the same thing I was wondering if this is a traffic offense and they could be charge with ...

Wait time at a stop sign?

I was on my way to work one typical morning, and I stopped at the subdivision stop sign, then proceeded only to be pulled over by the police. I received a ticket from a cop who told me that I didn't stop at the stop sign for long enough, I did in fact stop, it wasn't a rolling stop, he indicated that I didnt stop for 3-5 seconds ... Is there such a rule in the Ontario Highway Traffic Act that stipulates this? I obeyed the stop sign but didn't count 5 steamboats, what the? I was also charged with an out dated insurance slip, that was out of date by 5 days ... 5 days!! The police officer told me...

I did piss him off. I was polite until his backup came and started going through the stuff in back of my truck, lifting up a tarp and such, i told him to stay out of my S***. Why does it take two squad cars for a minor traffic infraction? I have never understood this, why they request/need backup? I think they're just bored and figure they will help in case they're needed, they are after all Unionized employee's. This is simply a cash cow, tax collector at work here. Look at what it takes to be a police officer ... High School Education and a valid O.A.C.P. Certificate. Traffic cops, at times...

So the same thing happened again today... I went out for lunch with some coworkers and on the way to the restaurant we were pulled over. This is Renforth drive in Etobicoke and there is something like 6 schools on this road, and as such the speed limit is 40KM. My coworker who was driving his piece of *EDIT* Suzuki turned onto Renforth and was doing somewhere from 50KM to 52KM, I was watching his digital speedometer as I know this is a famous radar trap. Any ways the cop pulled us over and walked up to the side of the car and told him he was caught doing 58KM in a 50 but would lower it to 50KM...

Thanks All, You're correct I do not know 100%, if radar was used, but I think it's probably wasn't used. And, I do know for sure, 100%, that I wasn't driving 74KM or 50% over the posted limit of 50KM. I personally feel she pulled this number out of her ass, to fill some sort of quota system. I think I will fight the ticket based on the following reasons: 1) the ticket may be processed incorrectly (slight chance) 2) the cop might not show up for the court date (never know) 3) they waste my time, I waste the systems time ( traffic cops = glorified tax collectors) 4) I will wait 10 days then file...

Unethical Speeding Ticket

I was driving west bound down a residential street. The street is posted at 50KM. When I saw the cop sitting on the right, behind a large tree, I immediately looked down at my speedometer and it read 60 to 62 KM/h, I then instinctively hit my brakes and looked at the cop who was reaching over the steering wheel to put the car into gear. The cop put on the lights and, I pulled over immediately. While I waited for her to come up to my side window, I presume she was running my plate, I gathered all the appropriate documentation for her. She eventually came up to the driver side window and asked m...
