Hi,
I recently moved to Alberta and got a photo radar ticket in Spruce Grove. My car was still registered in Ontario at the time and they mailed a ticket to my old address. I would like to fight it. Section 160(1) of the Traffic Safety Act allows a vehicle owner to be liable for a number of offences including 115(2)(p) (exceed maximum speed limit ...

Re: Trailer towing
Yes its legal to tow 2 trailers in Ontario (provided it's behind a commercial vehicle, i.e. any pickup. I can't remember the total length allowable without a special permit issued by the MTO. Make sure your truck is plated for the total weight of all trailers and they have yellow stickers. Personal use pickups registered over 6000kg require CVOR ...

Re: Charter violations by the Ontario government
Who will be the first person to sue the Government for violation their Section 11(d) right to a public trial? I'm surprised lawyers and paralegals aren't up in arms about this. It practically puts them out of business (at least for paralegals who specialize in traffic tickets).

Re: Should I or should I not report him?
I could be wrong, but I was told the threshold for charging someone with Fail to Stop at the Scene of an Accident (CCC) is much higher than Fail to Remain (HTA), usually involving bodily injury or major property damage; Much like the difference between Careless Driving (HTA) and Dangerous Driving (CCC).

The G1 driver would get a ticket for violating the conditions of their novice license, much like if they drive by themselves.

Re: Should I or should I not report him?
You unfortunately are not required to report or stay at the scene of an accident if it's under $1000 damage on private property. This happened to my friends car and even though we got the license plate, the cop couldn't charge the driver with fail to remain. And at least with my insurance company, a hit and run accident is "not at fault" but you ...

Prosecutor may drop the careless if you plead guilty to the speeding if they feel sorry for you being a new driver with a clean record. Get your G license before you go to court or your license will be suspended for 30 days for getting a 4 point or higher ticker as a novice driver.

For that ticket, they may (probably) issue a warrant for your arrest.

why wasn't the bike registered in nova scotia thendo you live in ontario or do you live in nova scotia? your insurance from nova scotia may very well be invalid if you don't have the bike registered in nova scotia.

Re: out of province driving license. plz reply
was your license suspended before you got a nova scotia license or for non-payment of fines or a dui ect? if so, you are driving on a suspended license. if it was simply because you didnt renew your ontario license and you had a valid nova scotia license at the time, then you should never have been fined.

Re: HELP!! Licence suspended - Need advice ASAP please
If you pay the fine at the court, you can reinstate your license in about 4 days (it takes that long to notify the MTO). You can then go to a ServiceOntario and get a temporary driver's license (after paying $150) until they mail you a new license card.

I'm not the only person. It could be that it's non-moving? I don't see how it would show up in a police computer system (not OPP, local police) and not on an MTO abstract when both data sources come from the MTO.

No problems with crossing any lines, yellow or white. You cannot however, cross raised or lowered medians/ditches (like on 401 hwy, or the concrete divider in your picture).

You should get disclosure to see what evidence he has to support his speeding and stop sign charge. You are, however, very lucky you didn't get charged with Flight From Police or even C.C.C. Resisting Arrest.
I don't think from what it sounds like that he has any real evidence on your speed or you running the stop sign.

"elite" drivers that want to drive 185 should go to cayuga and stick to normal speeds on the highway. what if a deer ran out? or a truck blew a tire and swerved into your lane? there's not time to break. not to mention tires are probably not rated higher then S (which is just at 180km/h). they could blow out then your really screwed.

hate to say it, but if he hit the car, he was too close! the dash cam might help for insurance, but not for a ticket.

nothing false has been said sonic. most of the fatal errors cannot be used in this case because he received a court summons not a ticket. sure there are lots of things you can fight a laser/rader evidence on, but lets face it, 90% of the time there is nothing wrong with it. ontario courts do not place the kind of emphasis US courts do on ...

Re: [URGENT/SERIOUS] Goin 185 KM/H on Highway (100 Limit)
Why is jail time such a bad thing in this case? 85 over is extremely fast. Almost double the posted speed limit. He showed no regard for his life or the others on the highway. I bet he wasn't driving a Ferrari or some other vehicle designed for such high speed travel (not that is really makes any difference) which makes it extremely dangerous. 1 ...

Also worth mentioning, for such a gross amount over the limit, I would bet that the crown seeks jail time during sentencing, even if first time.

They MIGHT give you Sec. 128 speeding 185 in a 100 zone so you get a lower fine, but I doubt it. It's too bad, but this law was made for people like you. 85 over is extremely fast. Good luck getting insurance for the next 3 years.

Any insurance broker I have talked to and all the online ones say not to include suspensions due to unpaid fines.
