Re: Help please: G2, Stunt driving ticket 170 kmph u/s 172, Summons (yellow)

Your speed is way over the threshold for stunt driving so I have doubts they will offer you 49 over, but I will share my experience in getting mine reduced to 49 over and perhaps it can at least provide a bit of stress relief knowing what you're in for. This happened to me in the Ottawa Area (Clarence-Rockland area just east of Ottawa), Where I got dinged with a 132/80. I was late for work and was speeding roughly 30 over. When I came to a hill I reached 52 over and didn't realize it. Unfortunately, as soon as I cleared the hill, a cop was oncoming the other way and clocked me at that speed. B...

Re: 4 demerit pts suspension - Insurance Driver's Abstract

Ah I see. Thank you for the responses. Did that count as an administrative suspension by the way? I'm wondering if I tried to get a car now and get it insured - if they would take me.

4 demerit pts suspension - Insurance Driver's Abstract

Hi there. 13 months ago, I got my first and only speeding ticket. I was a g2 driver and due to escalated sanctions, they suspended my license for 30 days. Luckily, I didn't need my car as I was moving downtown from the countryside in a couple months. I have a couple questions. 1. How long will this appear on my drivers abstract should I want to get a car insurance again. I am getting a lot of mixed answers to this (2/3/5 years). I am looking at buying a house in the suburbs in maybe 1 year (2 max), and would probably like to get a car at that point. I can bus it as long as I need to but it wou...

Re: Is my license suspended?

So it is suspended I guess? Does it start when I surrender my license or immediately as of the conviction?

Is my license suspended?

I got convicted of 49km over as a g2 driver. This merits 4 points. I was under the impression from my paralegal that I would get a 30 day suspension. I don't know if I have to surrender my license.

According to the ontario website http://www.ontario.ca/driving-and-roads ... rit-points
-says i need to get 6

According to MTO website http://www.mto.gov.on.ca/english/dandv/ ... .6.0.shtml
-also says i need 6

So basically, can I drive? I have been arranging a carpool to work for the past week, but could I have been driving this whole time?

Re: 49 over g2 driver - insurance & suspension

Yeah it was stunt before, amended to 49 over and I pleaded guilty to that. Come renewal time, I am just wondering if I will be able to afford the insurance, or how much of an %increase I am looking at.

One other thing, I can get my full G license right before my renewal, don't know if that will help or not.

49 over g2 driver - insurance & suspension

Hello. I was wondering what kind of insurance increase I am looking at with my 49 over (amended from 53 over). I am a g2 driver and the 4 points result in a 30 day suspension. This is my first offense.

Is there any way to avoid the 30 day suspension by pleading with the ministry, since I need my car to work. There is no public transportation where I live, so I won't be able to generate an income.

Thanks for any responses.

Cheers :)

Re: Stunt Driving Charge - Seeking Advice! Plea Bargaining?

I just wanted to share the outcome of my case for anyone going through this. I hired a local paralegal (since my summons was in a VERY french area and I am not bilingual). The paralegal didn't really do much that I couldn't have done myself. She did speak to the prosecutor 2 times (which I wasn't quite sure how to go about doing). At the summons he wasn't willing to budge from the stunt driving charge from anything she said, only a reduction in the fine to $1000. He was very strict and stern and tough to negotiate with. I then spoke up out of nowhere and explained my situation, and was complet...

Re: Stunt Driving Charge - Seeking Advice! Plea Bargaining?

Thank you for replying. One question. How do I request a meeting with the crown (is that the officer?) to work out a plea deal? Do I do that at the summons or afterwards?

Stunt Driving Charge - Seeking Advice! Plea Bargaining?

Hello. Last week I was pulled over for excessive speed on my way into town (I live in the countryside) for 133 in an 80. I honestly did not realize I got up to that speed. I am looking for advice on the following questions. 1) Should I hire a paralegal? Some say yes, some say no. I am a little confused about the process of the courts and how this will play out. 2) Ultimately, I want to beg the judge for a lesser charge (speeding), and I feel I have good reasoning for it. Firstly, this is my first offence (first time ever being pulled over), and I have never broke the law. I require a car to ge...
