Re: Got charged.
I have read your posts and from my count this is the SEVENTH vehicle you have damaged in almost 6 months. Each time you still maintain that youre a good driver and were "distracted" by one thing to another. I dont think people on this site want to give you advice anymore because our roads are much safer without you on them. The worst part is you still think you havent done anything wrong. If you read the details I'm not at fault in many of them. Anyway besides all this I heard from someone that the cost of damage needs to exceed a certain amount (I forgot what) but clearly this inci...

Got charged.
Hi, I unfortunately got another ticket and officers came to my residence.
Some time back while parking I my phone fell down from the dashboard and I instinctively picked it up which was a stupid think to do as I was driving blind and entering a parking spot. I scratched the door of a car. I spoke to the person payed them on the spot some money which was agreed upon.
Apparently her husband told the cops afterwards and wasn't happy with how she handled it.
Advice?

Re: Daugher (17) charged with speeding - 40 km in a 20km zon
Thanks MsDeeya.... Yes we took her license away for 6 weeks. We hope she has learned her lesson and no, they are no longer friends or allowed to see each other. We haven't talked the the boy's mom yet, but plan to. He will deny it, as we tried to get him to admit doing the specific act, in a text - guess he is smarter than we think? Okay, I will go ahead and speak to an officer who is a friend of a friend to try and find out what the repercussions of her letting him drive. If anyone else has any further opinions on this, I would appreciate it. Sounds like quite the genius. Though you couldn't...

Re: Daugher (17) charged with speeding - 40 km in a 20km zon
I just received notice of our court date today. It is August 6th. I am going to go and request the officer's disclosure report. AND, this situation is more complicated. After reading through our daughters texts... we find out she wasn't driving the car. She had let her 15 year old friend drive. UGH. Of course underage, no license. When the office stopped them, he jumped in the back seat and she switched to the driver seat. I don't know how he didn't see them, other than it was a dark night and we have tinted windows. We cannot prove this. We do have texts from him, saying he told her to get i...

Re: 3rd careless driving. Help
Just so you are aware, any conviction over 4 points is a violation for a Novice Driver. First occurrence is a 30 day suspension. Second occurrence is a 90 day suspension. Third occurrence and your license will be cancelled. No credit for time or money. You start from G1 and go through the whole process again. Considering the fact you're on the verge of losing your license and no normal insurance company will even deal with you after this, public transportation might be one of the few options you have left for years to come. I'd probably invest in some representation and try to salvage somethi...

Re: 3rd careless driving. Help
WOW!! What a story! Let me see if I've got this straight... You are an inexperienced driver (G2 license) who has been involved in three collisions and been charged three times with Careless Driving in just 3½ months. Your first accident occurred on or about Nov 6, 2013. You lost control of your own vehicle when someone opened his car door in front of you and you struck two additional parked cars... Your second accident occurred on or about Nov 23, 2013. I found it hard to understand what you were trying to describe, but it read to me that you turned left at a T junction (where you didn't have...

Re: 3rd careless driving. Help
Don't be so insensitive. I am a responsible driver. The first 2 incidents were quite unavoidable and the 3rd I have no idea what happened but if I managed to brake I would not have crashed. The gas pedal got stuck.ynotp wrote:Maybe this is a sign from above that you should resign yourself to public transit?

Re: 3rd careless driving. Help
From a Fault Determination POV, if only your vehicle was in motion then you're 100% at fault for both cars. If the vehicle you hit was also in motion then he's 50% at fault for the vehicle in front him. http://www.e-laws.gov.on.ca/html/regs/english/elaws_regs_900668_e.htm It's in your best interest to retain legal counsel on this. Prosecutors usually consider convictions when they plea-bargain, so the other two pending charges may not be relevant right now. You better book that G-test on the first available date, because even an amended HTA charge could suspend your license and you'll most li...

3rd careless driving. Help
I got a 3rd careless driving ticket accident related. For other 2 which I believe I don't deserve requested trial, see http://www.ontariohighwaytrafficact.com/topic5705.html . I was driving quite fast, trying to overtake a car but then the car came to a sudden stop for a stop sign and realizing there was a junction, I aborted the overtaking. I pushed the gas pedal hard by mistake and my foot somehow got stuck pressing the pedal and I rear ended the car which itself rear ended another car. My car and the one I hit got totaled and I'm upset as it was really new. There was a police car that was b...

Got into second accident and careless driving again. Help
I posted a while back about this http://www.ontariohighwaytrafficact.com/topic5657.html and its still pending trial. Unfortunately I got into a 2nd accident and got charged again with careless driving. I was at a junction and I looked and saw that there was no traffic and proceeded to turn on the other street. As I do this a car driving the wrong way comes and hits the front side of my car. I only saw the car a spilt second before it hit me when I heard it braking and screeching and didn't have time to avoid it. 30s later before I get down, a girl driving the correct direction comes and hits t...

Re: 14 points can I get suspended?
I wouldn't say she's a terrible driver but definitely needs to be more responsible... Have you read the driving history she's already shared on this site? She's in her 20's and has been driving since she was 14 (Alberta's min. age!) and since that time has already had: * 2 careless driving charges (within the last 2 weeks)---one for rear-ending a car; the other for hitting a police officer's car * 1 backing up on a highway charge (within the last 2 weeks) * 2 or 3 convictions for texting while driving; and *has been in 8 accidents: 5 her fault; 3 not her fault * 2 of those 'at fault' accident...

Re: Careless Driving after accident
Anyone else has advice? Why did I get careless driving for this? It wasn't for hitting the door. You're not at fault when someone opens their door on you, but it sounds like it's for the accident afterwords. When in an accident, you have to maintain reasonable control of your vehicle. Some people panic when in an accident and do stuff like hit the gas instead of the brake and hit anything and everything till they come to a stop. If I had to guess, it would be that the officer thinks your reaction was unreasonable in proportion to the factors (speed limit, location of the other vehicles, the d...

Re: 14 points can I get suspended?
Let's just get this out of the way. You are a terrible driver. You are probably the worst sober driver i've read about here in some years. That being said, here's what you need to know: - You inquired about your current insurance situation and how it will impact your currents rates. Don't be surprised if you get a letter in the mail from your insurance telling you they no longer want to insure you. You are a liability and they are losing money by having you insured. You are on the verge of multiple claims, careless driving offenses, possible suspension, and whatever ticket(s) outside of this ...

Re: Careless Driving after accident
Just so you are aware, your license will be suspended for 30 days if you are convicted. As a G2 driver, you are subject you Novice Driver Escalating Sanctions. If you are convicted of 4 or more points on a single charge, you will automatically be suspended. If you got pictures of the scene, post them (no need for closeup damage pictures). The fact you got a careless driving charge and the car you hit having vertical doors has me intrigued. Not vertical doors. The door opened as any door would. On impact it came of and flew on my bonnet. I'm not really willing to post pictures and I just have ...
