Where does this procedure come from ? I’ve only seen this in the Ottawa area, in other places I’ve seen people get both part 1 and part 3 for multiple offences on the same traffic stop ...

Re: When does Dashcam Footage enter court?

I believe, but am not positive, that it will need to be admitted to court and the crown will need to be given a chance to review the video as its disclosure. The crown will certainly have the opportunity to question the video.

Curious, what do you hope to gain by dashcam video for a speeding ticket ?

While I dont have all the answers youre looking for, regardless of snow being prt of the legitimate load you may still face a charge under section 181 of the HTA

No person shall deposit snow or ice on a roadway without permission in writing so to do from the Ministry or the road authority responsible for the maintenance of the road.

If there is snow and ice falling off your truck into the road.

Very common actually to carry both lidar/radar especially if your job is traffic enforcement.

If you have the disclosure perhaps post it on here we may be able to assist you in deciphering it .

Guess I'll just pay the fine :) TicketDefenders quoted me 350, which would pretty much just be $500 all said and done. I don't see how they could possibly get me off.

How long does the Officer have to input the ticket? I have been looking for it on the pay-tickets website but it is still "not found".
7 days unless they apply for late filing with a JP. It may be inputted however you just can't view it using payfines

Re: Non-police forbidden from speeding (On Duty)

MTO Enforcement doesn't conduct speed enforcement , the lasers you speak of are intended for use to determine if a commercial vehicle required to use a speed limiting device is indeed using the device. They make take the measurement then waive the vehicle over down the highway no need to close any gap, and no speeding tickets issued.

Re: Caught speeding excessively but wasn't pulled over

but by not answering there question , surly that is what your doing your obstructing their investigation ? You could be charged for knowingly doing things that would obstruct their investigation, if they can prove this. Not exactly. A frustrated police officer cant just go '' oh you dont want to admit to this crime so your obstructing me so I'll arrest you.'' In R v Soltys (1980) 56 CCC (2d) 43 at p 45, the BC Court of Appeal, cited Black's Law Dictionary, stated "obstruct" means "to impede; to interpose impediments. If the police have no authority to question you than you are ...

I didn't think you could get ticket forgiveness ? TBH a 1st minor ticket is not going to hit you hard if at all (depending on the tix)

TD / meloche monnet don't do ticket, because we asked them.

Who are you with?

What is the cost on 1st minor ticket, be interesting to know, if what your paying for is "what" you would pay anyway for any hike?
It is included in my policy, I have full coverage and there is no extra line price beside this item. I am with allstate.

Re: Caught speeding excessively but wasn't pulled over

good info dude, question If you are asked a question and you refuse to answer can they not get you on obstruction ? If not (or if so) what are examples of obstruction txs Remember you have the right to NOT talk to police and to NOT answer any questions. They can not charge the DRIVER unless they can identify the driver. If they show up asking who the driver is, and you tell them it was you, then they can charge you as the driver because you admitted it. If they show up asking who the driver is, but you just keep saying that you are not obligated to answer any questions and have no comment on ...

I get this included in my policy at no extra charge, I personally think its a great idea. I also have first minor ticket forgiveness which I had to call to find out more about, anything excluding; careless driving, fail to remain, fail to report, stunt driving, failing to stop for a school bus fail to stop for police (and a few others) are included.

Re: What Can I say to the officer during a traffic stop

As others have said, be polite and hand over your licence and vehicle documents when asked, but watch your self to make sure you don't say anything incriminating. My goal during a traffic stop is to be as forgettable as possible so that come court time the cop doesn't remember anything about me except for what he has scribbled in his notes. If you get into a big argument with the officer, he is much more likely to remember the details of the stop and he will probably take excellent notes so that he can nail you in court. Remember that if the cop has decided to write you a ticket there is pret...

Re: 121 km/h in a posted 80 km/h - Disclosure attached

The officer was approximately 300 meters away based on my calculations using beam width of .9m and lidar gun specs. What was volume of traffic? Obviously it was dark but was it raining ( I can't make out the RDS conditions)? Basically the officer is stating he is sure he wasn't off by 0.9m at a distance of 300m aiming at a car's registration plates going, he claims, 121 km/hr, with headlights on probably blinding him to a degree. As well, he didn't sweep the lidar gun while trying to target you way off in the distance in the dark. Okay. His requalification is 3 years old at time of ticket (I ...

Re: Temp plates for a trailer? Help?

Interesting question... you only need to register a trailer once so I don't see why you could register it once and be done with it. I don't believe trailers need temp stickers as theres no safety inspection before registering the trailer. Also I believe what your describing is going to be a camper trailer so annual inspections wouldn't apply. If your homemade trailer weighs more than 900 kg empty: You can weigh your trailer at any Ministry of Transportation Motor Vehicle Inspection Station. Look for the green-and-white sign along highways. There are more than 12,000 stations across Ontario. On...
