Re: Summons for HTA 82 (9)
Update: My alleged charge was not on the docket. I'm free and clear. Had absolutely nothing to do with the sale of the vehicle, transfer of ownership, who the owner is, etc. Don't know how people got that idea from "failed to submit the vehicle... for inspection or tests as required by an offic...

Summons for HTA 82 (9)
Hi so I have a bizzare situation. Today I received a summons for "being the owner of a motor vehicle bearing Vehicle Identification Number ###, failed to submit the vehicle, equipment or drawn vehicle for inspection or tests as required by an officer" for a vehicle I previously owned. Appa...

If your ticket was originally in Toronto, you can check the status of your case on the Toronto Court Case Look Up system Up system. I checked my most recent extension for payment and it updated same day.

Re: Is a Summons sent by email not legally binding?
First I've ever heard of an email summons. Would assume it's not valid at all since the point of a summons is for it to be delivered personally. This means to a person.

Re: It is hopeless to fight a ticket at Ontario Traffic cour
^ Well said. The only time it's hopeless is when the crown has their witnesses and information put together properly, and you have to sit back and take the loss. The crown and police are not there to be your friends. Crown wants to win, police don't want to look bad either. Unless it's something min...

Re: Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act 3 (1)
If you're listed on a policy with the endorsement for non-owned vehicles then you have coverage for other vehicles. This is you specifically, it does not transfer to anyone else like liability coverage does for an insured vehicle you are lending out.

Re: Location on ticket does not exist - Is this a fatal erro
I don't believe so. No location would be a fatal error. I'm fairly certain the location can be amended if it was the incorrect street suffix. If it were a completely invalid location that doesn't happen to hit Lower Jarvis Street (say, Bathurst St.), then you could argue the location does not exist.

Courts have been getting faster. Simple speeding ticket my friend was issued is due in court on April, offense was in October.

Moving to USA, Ontario DL suspended, Can get US Licence?
This is more of a hypothetical than anything. If I were to move to USA (say, Texas) with a work visa, eventually become a permanent resident, would it matter what licence I had in Ontario if I were to start fresh in the US? Or let's say I have dual citizenship and decide Canada isn't working for me ...

Permit Drive Motor Vehicle w/o Insurance issued to Operator
I was pulled over a month ago, gave officer licence, insurance and ownership. Officer informs me that the vehicle's insurance policy was cancelled a week ago, and my licence was suspended for unpaid fines. Issued summons for "DRIVING WHILE UNDER SUSPENSION" and "OWNER OPERATE MV ON HW...
