Re: I was in an intersection turning left
Im interested in the police response. I assume that they say that because the other guy is supposed to try and stop at the yellow light. It is in the HTA. I think we all know people rarely stop at a yellow light, some call it a "grey area" in the law because an "amber light - fail to stop" ticket is hard to prove. However if he goes straight ...

Listening to police scanners online
Not sure if this belongs in here or general area, so if needed mods could move. I appologise if need be.
Not sure if this is of interest to anyone... but a freind showed me a website that live streams police, ems, fire and other radio comunications for all parts of the world including most of canada and USA. There are quite a few counties and ...

Hey Neighbour. I live nearby and know that area well. Probably flipped you the finger a few times..... LOL just kidding.
So may I assume you were heading south on moodie turning left (east) onto hunt club and the other guy was north on moodie turning right (east) on hunt club?
A left turning vehicle must wait in the intersection until the way is ...

Re: wrong way on a one way to avoid a group fighting on road
You broke the law, you knew the risks and chose to risk getting a ticket, you got the ticket...pay it, move on...
Really? If the OP is being 100% honest, that sounds like a dangerous situation that I would like to keep my family and my shiny car out of, exiting whatever way I could. Wouldn't you?
However I wonder why the cop gave him a ticket ...

Re: Pull over to throw up, got ticket for parking in Fire Route
I learned something a few years back about parking ticket agents. Think about it, what kind of person takes a job like that? What kind of personality would a person like that have to put up with that job day in and day out? These people have a job where they have to ruin peoples days many times over, every single shift. A few times a day they get ...

Re: Received first time careless driving ticket...what to do?
The Ottawa police had two incidents of chacing deer (and killing them) in the city this spring. Also just down the road in Rockland the same thing. For sure there are lots of deer here in Ottawa, but usually juvaniles or doe's. I wont leave the roadway for that, but my car does stop real fast.

I had a thought on the studded tires.. Maybe Simon could correct me if I am wrong...
I think you have 6 months to register your vehicle and drivers licence in Ontario. So couldn't he run his tires for until he registers his vehicle here being he would look as if he is from manitoba? I know here in Ottawa lots of people from the Quebec side have ...

Any time an animal crosses in front of you, slow down as much as possible and STAY IN YOUR LANE.
That works if it's a small animal... not so much for a moose, bison, elk, etc.
I agree with that. I guess an insurance hike and being alive is better than a comprehensive claim and being in intensive care clinging to life. But the OP was swerving ...

Re: CVSA/CMV Info
I have a question. I drive a 2005 GMC safari cargo van my company supplies for work, fully marked with company signage. There are a few roads in Ottawa like Ottawa river parkway, Island park drive, colonal By drive, ect that have signs posted "no comercial vehicles - $110 fine". Do I drive a "comercial vehicle" according to that law (its insured as ...

Re: American citizen without a seat belt ticket
As far as I know many states have agreements with ontario government so for example if I was caught speeding in illinios once convicted I would have dermit points show up on my licence here. In our system if you ignore the ticket you will be found guilty in your absence (unless there is a fatal flaw on the face of the ticket). However if I ...

Re: Attempted Car Theft
I have done some research on citizens arrest myself for simular reasons. Below is section 494 of the criminal code of canada:
494. (1) Any one may arrest without warrant
(a) a person whom he finds committing an indictable offence; or
(b) a person who, on reasonable grounds, he believes
(i) has committed a criminal offence, and
(ii) is ...
