I ended up just paying the guy. I didn't want to take the risk, because even if it's a small chance that the cops get involved, that's gonna get me the driving without insurance charge and a huge jump in rates. Even if the cops don't get involved, I don't want a 100% fault accident on my record.

Hi there, I am really hoping that somebody can give me some advice on what to do. I was involved in an accident in mid-November (I rear ended the guy, but he braked suddenly). At the time, I didn't have any insurance, because I had gotten a new credit card and called my insurance company to update the payment method, but they never actually processed it. I was in BC for work when they sent me a registered letter cancelling my auto insurance.
