Re: "encouraging" an 11b?
It doesn't work like that. You're going to be seen as the cause for delay, not the other way around. You're going to need to give them at least something closer to 2 months, never mind one week. That's what I was worried about. So I need to give them 2 months to put it together? To be honest, that seems excessive, but if that's what's necessary, then I'll request in January. What about the other things? Will I know if the officer has shown up by the time I need to request an adjournment (assuming they fail to provide disclosure in time)? I understand it's unlikely, but I might as well try eve...

Re: Already got a roadside break... should I request trial?
Insurance can see (I say can, not will, because they'll only see it if they pull your file) it only after conviction, so if your trial date is assigned to a date after your renewal date, you'll be better off. That said, insurance companies rarely pull the file on even renewals, unless you're on facility. The less the insurance knows, the better, though, and delaying a conviction past any possible file-checks should help that.

"encouraging" an 11b?
Ticket date: August 16 Trial request: August 29 So I just got my trial date, March 28, 2014, I have a couple of questions: 1. When does the 11b clock start? When I got the ticket, or when I requested trial, not so much an issue since it was only 2 weeks apart, but good to know. 2. I was thinking of 'encouraging' things to take more time by waiting to request disclosure, then requesting an adjournment because I won't have it yet. Placing the delay on the fault of the crown, and possibly delaying my case past the 11 or so months that would constitute a not-so-speedy trial. Are my assumptions her...

What I've gathered is *always* request a trial, if for nothing else than to get disclosure, look for a hole, and maybe delay the conviction until after your next insurance renewal (or to let you keep your job a little longer, if this would affect it).

Re: Do I have any options?
Thanks for the detailed reply. That's about what I figured, particularly about the x-copper, but I figured I'd see if I could solicit some advice at least. What exact moment is the charge brought back up? Can I show up the day of the trial, and decide before it's my turn that I'd rather plead guilty to the reduced ticket? You mentioned that some prosecutors might drop the charges without me needing to do anything if the cop doesn't show; does that happen before the trial, and do I know about it before the actual trial? Basically what I'm asking is what can I safely hold out for before my absol...

Do I have any options?
I should start by saying that the ticket is actually for 10 over, but there's no forum for that. It was reduced to 60 in a 50 from 71 in a 50. So basically, as a young-ish driver, my rates are already rather high, and I don't get the benefit of one completely forgiven minor conviction that some older drivers might. So after running some quotes, this could cost me over 1200 over 3 years in insurance (motorcycle and car). Which is why I'm concerned about this minor ticket. Couple questions: 1. I assume my best options if I want any chance of getting rid of this is to request a trial and request ...
