Re: Passed school bus that only had red lights flashing in opposing traffic lane.

Here's what I don't understand about Ontario school buses.... everywhere else (all US states and most of Canada) they have both yellow AND red lights up top. The red only flash when the bus HAS stopped and the door is OPEN. If they are approaching the stop and/or not yet letting kids on and off, the...

Relating to this post, I have a question regarding School buses in Ontario and their lights... In practically every other province and state, a yellow school bus has both amber and red lights up top. The amber lights activate when the bus is approaching a school bus stop to alert you it is about to ...

Where I live, these lanes are very common and referred to as a "bypass" lane. You are bypassing the intersection - the traffic lights do not apply to you. You do not have to stop first (in fact, you are NOT to stop in that lane) unless you need to give way to traffic already on the interse...

I sent the same question to the City of Ottawa. Their reply was that those signs are a courtesy, and although they put them at all the intersections in the city with a camera (on all approaches tho, not just the direction of the camera), they are under no obligation to do so. They told me the signs ...

Re: Help!! How can i be convicted of driving while suspended when i never knew i was suspended

Another avenue to look at: have you ever been ordered by a court to pay child support? and if so, is it current? Only asking as the courts can order the FRO (Family Responsibility Office) to enforce those payments and one of their favorite ways to punish people they deem are in default is to have yo...

Re: Wrong Way on a One Way Road to Complete a Turn

The other thing to think about with road design is this: If they wanted cars to access this second street from the street you were coming from, they would not make the connection one-way, or they would not have the intersection staggered by the 5 meters. Quite often (at least where I live) a one-way...

U-Turn at Protected Left Signal

Hello Am I alone in noticing that MANY people seem to think they are allowed to make a U-Turn from a protected left hand turn lane (where there is a separate traffic light for the left traffic) when that light is RED? Where did this come from? While the logic of it says it is similar to making a rig...

Re: Improper signage nearly leads to an accident - who would be at fault?

I find this interesting, as I don't think this is an isolated case of the wrong sign being put up, sometimes even permanent ones by the city. It is baffling to me how people whose job it is to put up signs don't seem to know the difference between them, like right lane vs left lane ends, the yellow ...

Does any of this help?

Hello While I do understand the principle of absolute liability, meaning it only has to be proven that it was a) the right car, and b) the light was red, so that with that evidence there is no defence, here are the particulars I am interested in: The intersection does not have a sign indicating a re...
