Moving Radar - Multiple Targets
Wow, I wish I had found this site a week ago.
That being said, I know that radar for the most part is pretty hard to beat.
However, in this situation:
I was passing a car doing about 80kph. As I passed I likely hit 110-120kph. As I finished my pass, I quickly pulled back and in slowed down to 85kph (I actually braked).
There was traffic on the road ahead about 1.2km away (I now have confirmed that distance). Turned out it was OPP moving towards me. It was 11pm on a 2 lane road, very dark and very dry (middle of summer).
So, my ask is (and I know doppler radar very very well due to my education... I'm just a little dated).
Do the current units the OPP use reliably track 2 vehicles and report the speeds from both vehicles. When you deal with frequencies, you can get the sum and the difference of the 2 main frequencies. If you listened to the tone, you would hear 2 or more.
Based on 2 vehicles in the radar beam at the same time, do I have a chance to argue the validity?
Many thanks all!
