I just received a ticket with the offence of "Disobey stop sign. Fail to stop."

I didnt get to stop because the road was so slippery today from the freezing rain and it was snowing.

i hit the breaks but i knew i would slip so i didnt get to stop behind the sign and i was waaaay past it. Suddenly a black cruiser pulled me over.

Do i have a chance if I fight this?

PLEASE HELP. Its my first winter driving and i didnt have snow tires. I do not want to lose points!

Did you try to stop, or did you eventually stop?

Fail to stop is a strict liability offence, which means that you can use a defence of due dilligence. If successful, it would result in a finding of not guilty.

i tried to stop but by the time, i knew i couldnt make the stop completely i was scared the car behind would hit me (which happened to be the cops cruiser) and then i got pulled over.
