Ok, so I was unable to stop for a yellow light and proceeded with caution, halfway thru the intersection driver turned left in front of me and I was unable to avoid hitting this vehicle. Police officer advised that i was not at fault, but witness stated that the light was red (which is false) so officer issued me a ticket, my insurance adjuster is telling me that I am at fault ? I always thought that a person turning left against traffic had to make sure it was safe to do so before turning, am I wrong???

Fault Determination Rules: http://www.ontario.ca/laws/regulation/900668

Rules for Automobiles in an Intersection

15. (1) This section applies with respect to an incident that occurs at an intersection with traffic signals. R.R.O. 1990, Reg. 668, s. 15 (1).

(2) If the driver of automobile "B" fails to obey a traffic signal, the driver of automobile "A" is not at fault and the driver of automobile "B" is 100 per cent at fault for the incident. R.R.O. 1990, Reg. 668, s. 15 (2).

I saw this rule on line with illustration and according to this diagram I am driver of vehicle A. So does this mean that even though I was ticketed for going thru a red light I am not at fault for this collision?

If the information is that you disobeyed a red light then you would be vehicle B and at fault.
