137 In A 90km/h

I was driving down the highway on my motorcycle and a unmarked police vehicle driving towards me radar me at 47 km/h over the speed limit.

My question is this a minor offense in Ontario for insurance companies and would I have any chance fighting this in court.

The officer never showed me the reading on the radar, just gave me the ticket.

Most insurance companies would probably consider this a major offence. You were only 3km/h away from a stunt driving charge.

The officer doesn't have to show you the radar and in most cases it wouldn't be considered safe to do so anyway.

The only way to be sure is to contact your actual insurance provider. What speed is considered a major offence varies from one insurance provider to the next.

As for fighting the ticket, there is always a chance, but it's very dependent on the actual circumstances and the evidence against you. If your ticket wasn't reduced at the roadside, you could probably at the very least work out a deal with the Crown to plead guilty to a reduced speed.
