On December 20, 2010 I received a careless driving charge. On the initial court date in apr 2011, I was offered a lesser charge, but decided to request to set a trial date and reqest disclosure. My date was in the fall but was adjourned at the request of the officer until June 2012. Can I contact the prosecutor now to plea to the lesser charge? Is it too late??

You can always ask. It is open to the prosecutor to still honour the deal, but they don't have to. Often times the deal is off the table if you don't take it at the first appearance because then you've used up more of their time and resources, making them less inclined to give you a deal.

Thanks for your reply.
Do you think it is better to contact them now or wait until the trial date?
Thanks again.

or would it be better to hire a paralegal? Can anyone recommend a good one?

If they offer you a "First Attendance" meeting, you can go to that. (It's early resolution to meet with the Prosecutor and work out a deal.) Alternatively, you can wait until the day of trial.
The advantage of hiring a paralegal is that it's all taken care of for you, although it will cost more. INCIDENTALLY, you might want to talk to a paralegal about filing an 11B (hint hint)...
