Fail To Stop For School Bus-owner/g2/effect On Insurance

Unread post by HTARep »

Can anyone tell me what the effect of a conviction for fail to stop for school bus-owner will have on insurance rates for a G2 driver? I realize it carries no demerit points, but I have received several different answers to my inquiries concerning the effect on insurance, particularly for a G2 driver. Some say it will have no effect, some say it will have a devastating effect, as even though it is zero points, some insurance companies still view it as a major offence and will increase premiums or even drop the insurance. I am hoping someone will be able to speak from experience, or possibly point me in the right direction to find out. Thank you.

If charged as the vehicle owner, there is no effect on insurance premiums. It also does not go on your driver record. Charging the owner is almost exactly like getting a parking ticket. Parking tickets do not affect your premiums, same idea here. They cannot use an offence where the charge is laid against the owner (e.g. red light camera, photo radar, fail to stop for school bus - owner) to increase premiums.

If you did not stop for a school bus and got charged as a driver (i.e. got stopped by the police), then it would be a serious premium increase, or they'd send you to the Facility Association.
