60 Km/h In A 50 (reduced From 91)

Just got a ticket this morning

The officer said that I was doing 91 in a 50 which I have a very hard time to believe considering I had just turned onto the road and I drive an f-250 diesel which isn't that fast. I just do not want this ticket on my record and have a couple questions.

1. If I fight it, is it possible that they could up the charge in court to the 91 which the officer claims?

2. The ticket says the offence occurred on Collier St S. which doesn't exist... its actually Collier Rd S., does that do anything to help me?

I really appreciate any help

Just one other thing. Would there be any benefit of not doing anything and hoping they catch the street error when they re-examine the ticket?

It is not only possible but probable that they will try you on 91. Street v Road is not going to get you off.

Agreed. You're looking at 0 demerit points, a small fine and your insurance company may forgive it. If you fight it, the Prosecutor will almost certainly seek to amend to the original speed of 91, which means you'd end up with 4 demerit points, $300+ in fines, and your insurance company will slam you. I'd strongly recommend paying this one.

Also, unless the F-250 has a speed governor that kicks in at 90 km/h, it is quite possible to do 91. I've seen F-250s going 140 so saying that your vehicle is "not that fast" will not work in court.

I've seen them a little quicker....and for some reason their speed was reduced to 0km/hr

Was that because of something in their rearview mirror?
