Asking For Disclosure At The Trial?

My trial's on Jan 30th. Instead of asking disclosure from the officer now, would it be wise to wait until the day of trial, ask for disclosure, and then motion for an adjournment so that I can digest the disclosure and prepare my full defense? I can say that as a layperson/student, I didn't know I had the right for full disclosure until just recently.

Would this work?

It may work, but I've seen some JP's simply stand the case down for half an hour while you review the evidence then and there.

What are you hoping to get out of the adjournment? It can't be used in an 11b argument since you're now responsible for the delay.

I'm hoping to get a cop no-show.

I haven't motioned for an 11b stay yet. The trial scheduled 8 months away from the day of the ticket. I didn't send any letters right off the bat requesting to hurry the trial. do I have any chance with the 11b?
