Got Wrong Offence In Notice Of Fine After Pleading In Court

Hi there,

this is my first post at OHTA, hoping it is in the right forum...

got a ticket for failing to stop at an amber light back in August, and decided to meet with the prosecutor for an early resolution (option 2), which took place last week.

The prosecutor offered to modify the charge to "fail to obey lane lights", which carries no demerit points. I agreed to it and entered the guilty plea for the latter charge in front of the JP. The ticket's fine was dropped from $180 to $110, and have 90 days to pay.

I got the "Notice of Fine and Due Date" today, and the offence described on the note is not the one I pleaded guilty for (fail to obey lane lights) but rather the original one (amber light failing to stop)

I'd like to know from the members here what are my options / what should I do ?

Thanks in advance for your help

You could go to the court house, speak with the clerk to see if it was some form of a clerical error. I would hope they could take it to a JP to have it properly amended. If not, you will have to appeal.

And may I add, make sure you take care of this within the 90 days. If you fail to rectify the problem or do not pay within the 90 days, your licence will be suspended.
