Winter Car Totalled :(

Unread post by Tam905 »

Hey all,

I have a couple of questions, I totaled my winter car on some black ice a few days ago and the police filled an accident report at the scene. I only had liability coverage and only my car was damaged (no one else was on the road) I am basically scrapping the car but do I need to contact insurance to let them know about this? Will this accident affect my insurance rates even though I am no making a claim or got a ticket?

Thanks for any information,

I'd check your insurance contract to see what your obligations are. Generally, they will ask you if you renew your insurance "have you had an accident," but some of them require ALL accidents to be reported even if you don't make a claim; others only care if you make claims.

* The above is NOT legal advice. By acting on anything I have said, you assume responsibility for any outcome and consequences. *
