Burnt For Driving While Suspended

Was pulled over and found out my license was suspended due to unpaid fines from may of 2011.

I had asked my wife to pay the fines last year and she maintains she did but we have no proof and it was so long ago.

I see the hefty fines and 6 months extra suspension plus the chance of jail time.... JUST GREAT!

Im told the hastings area has been putting people in jail for first offense on this..........errrrrr

The original tickets were for not signing my ownership and expired sticker.

I have hired a paralegal and wondering if its normal to receive jail time on first offense?

Whats the odds of the crown offering a plea?

Thanks

I've never heard of jail time for a first offence. Likelihood of a plea deal is a bit more difficult to say.

Rules are way to extreme for these infractions.

They are using the excuse that it teaches people to pay there fines but if they had even a touch of brains they would see that simple math would show a loss. Many people will loose their jobs and not to mention the court costs involved.

Should be a simple fine for first offense.

Love the served by mail theory to.

Should be a registered letter with a signature!

For all know it was never delivered or kids made a paper plane out of it.

This is a sad evolution of our justice system.

What's next?

Sentenced to death for j walking?
