Received Red Light Camera Ticket, Requested Early Resolution

I received a red light camera ticket in November, my girlfriend was driving my vehicle. I requested early resolution. I am sending a friend to represent me. Is there a basic template for the letter I should send with my representative? What should the letter include? I have no previous infractions. Do you think the JP will give me a reduced fine? Should I include in the letter I am working full time and going to school part time and have 3 children. Or does the pity matter?

The letter just needs to state that you authorize your friend to represent you.

And you could definitely include any information about financial hardship in the letter that may help convince the JP to reduce the amount.

Worst case is that you do not get a reduction on the fine at all and have to pay the full amount on the ticket. Best case is that you do get a reduction, so does not hurt to try.

On the positive side, a red light camera offence is against the OWNER of the vehicle and not the DRIVER and therefore does not affect your insruance at all.

Even if you don't get a reduction in the fine, most courts will allow some sort of payment plan so you're not out of pocket for the total amount all at once.
