Driving To Work

Unread post by Radar Identified »

Yesterday afternoon I was driving to work. On the DVP, the electronic road sign read: "GARDINER MOVING SLOWLY BEYOND YONGE TO HIGHWAY 427." Okay, normal... Got onto the Gardiner from the DVP... As I was joining the ramp, traffic was starting to back up. Well, that's far earlier than advertised, and usually they're reasonably accurate with the Gardiner backups. Turns out, they were right.

About half-way between the on-ramp from the DVP and the exit to Jarvis/Sherbourne, there was a taxi in the right lane, REVERSING ON THE GARDINER. Everyone had to dodge around this clown. I'm amazed he wasn't killed. (Okay, this isn't the first time I've seen someone back up on a freeway but it's still a shock when you do see it.)

Penalty for this offence is 2 demerit points and an $85 set fine and $110 total payable. Section 157 (1) of the HTA.
