Decatur Genesis 2

Unread post by dlozowsky »

does the testing of this radar unit before and after officer's shift include calibration of the unit? If not calibrated, do I have a defense for incorrect reading of the unit over and above the moving accuracy performance spec of +/- 3 km/hr

Required testing is an internal test that also performs a sort of self-cal. You have the ability to call into question the 122 as the manufacturer states quite clearly in the manual that the reading is plus/minus 3 KMH. And your 3 KMH would put you in a lower $$ bracket.

The unit cannot be user calibrated.

That is done when assembled.

In my 22 years using various radar devices, whether an officer can articulate or not, these instruments are extremely reliable and I never get readings that don't coincide with my observations.

I have read some LIDAR manuals and they actually reroute some of the light emmision so as to get an accurate exit time to measure the time of flight. I don't see why they couldn't do the same thing with RADAR units to help ensure their integrity..... This is just an observation.
