“Why Steve Jobs Never Drove With License Plates?”

iTWire reports the former Apple CEO or someone close to him discovered a loophole in California's vehicle laws stating people have six months to put license plates on new car. So before the car was six months old, Jobs would exchange his silver Mercedes SL55 AMG for an identical one. Therefore, he would never have to put license plates on his cars.

The dealer loved the arrangement not just because they got him to lease a new car every 6 months but because they also had a regular supply of off lease cars that were "previously driven by Steve Jobs" which increased the value.

They called it the "iBenz."

you'd think a guy like steve jobs would have better things to do then keep switching up his car so he doesn't have to put a license plate on it. sounds like he was busy at the dealership and didn't pay enough attention to what employees at apple were developing when they came out with a lousy 4S, maybe the next phone will be the 4GS, and by then android will have phones that can run your car for you.

i respect what he did for the tech community but honestly the guys f%^&ed up to the max.

yah... what a screw up! Apparently they only sold 4,000,000 of them in the first week. That only works out to about $2-3 billion dollars of sales in 7 days.... Obviously Jobs was pretty bad at figuring out what customers want!

you must not have read the new article released a couple days ago saying samsung has overtaken apple as the number 1 selling handset manufacturer on planet earth. you must be one of the intelligent people that spend way more money than necessary to be "cool" as cool as jobs trading in your cars every 90 days cause he so rich. when you charge $100 more than other devices that do more than what an iphone can do it proves how well marketing can change a product.

i'm not sure if you know anything about apple, but when jobs started it they made money, when they kicked him out, the almost went bankrupt, when he came back they made %^&*v loads of money. now that he's dead well he ain't ever coming back, Tim Cook...well Apple they should have buried the company with Steve cause he is Apple.

A company with the attitude of apple will fail miserably against the openness and cheaper software. Windows vs. Apple...gates wins.....android vs. apple .....google wins everything comes full circle just this time there is no more jobs to bail them out when they lose all market share.

and if itv ever comes out...i can't see people spending 5000 dollars on an apple tv when 999 will get them a perfectly good tv.

These are cellphones being sold by billion dollar companies. If you think one is winning and one is losing you are deluded. They are both winning and will continue to win well into the future. It's like saying BMW is going to defeat Mercedes....

well when tech is your life you are informed and opinionated. an uninformed person (life yourself) makes silly comments billions of dollars and Mercedes and BMW.

A monopoly in the auto industry is almost impossible...but in tech its common ie. Microsoft. If you don't think this will happen again on a mobile platform your nuts. It's just like blu-ray and hd dvd ultimately hd dvd quit because blu-ray took to much of the market and blu-ray couldn't keep up. get informed just like Research in Motion they will be out of business or bought out by a bigger company within the next 2 years. their phones are old and their software can't keep up to apple and android.

All in all do some reading then come back with a little more than they both make billions. its about more than just money, although money is the bottom line.

I think Steve jobs has a plan, he didn't make Apple the largest tech company, and flirting with the largest company IN THE WORLD with thoughts like yours. The demand is there and the company takes advantage of it, and the share holders are making money hand over fist. Apple should be nearing $100,000,000,000 IN CASH in 2012. Apple has the most profitable store in the world per square foot.
