“Trailer Over 4600kg”

Does anyone know of a way to get a GVWR changed downward? I have D class drivers and a trailer with a GVWR of 5400kg. The way I see it, this would require an A class driver, even though it is a small garden tractor trailer. It is a tandem though. 2700kg each axle.

The A class is only required if the gross weight (i.e. actual weight) of the trailer with any load on it is over 4600 kg. The GVWR has no impact on that.

The trailer only holds about 500 kg and weighs 1360kg. So we are always under 4600kg. Wasn't sure about the GVWR though. We do PMCVI the trailer anyways, just in case. Thanks, this clears things up.

to be on safe side, still recommend going to a scale (gravel pit or grain elevator etc..) and get empty trailer weighed, then put tractor on and weigh unit again.
