If there's no accident and nobody was hurt, I'd say it's pretty much a certainty you'll be offered a plea deal.
If youre content pleading down the charge to something less serious (i.e. change lane not in safety), Id skip hiring a paralegal for now. Attend a resolution meeting and see what the Crown is willing to offer.
Id only spend money on a paralegal if you want to fight the charge outright or don't get offered a plea deal for some reason.
Sad: Stanton's right on the money with his advice here. And Viper1's is way off.
No, I do not work for Toronto Police...
... it is just a name folks

If the cop was not in an emergency situation the cop was careless.
Explore how to charge them.(the cop was in the wrong if no light's flashing)
Might want to get disclosier first .
Cheers

This is curious. Because I thought the police are required to also obey speed limits? If he changed lanes into left lane and started accelerating above the speed limit which ended up cutting you off in a way, well isn't that speeding and careless on the cops end? If he had had lights on then it should be ok because the police is then trying to get to a emergency call etc..and you would see it most likely and be required to Yield.
So does this mean that police can speed without having their lights on?

police are exempt from the speed limit (HTA 128 exemptions)
