“Speeding In A Provincial Park”

Good afternoon

I was recently charged with speeding in a provincial park zone. The officer told me that it dosent matter how fast I was going in a provincial park, since the fine is exactly the same ($100), and it comes with no demerit points. Just want to know if what i was told is true. Thanks.

Section: H.T.A. section 2(c)

There are 2 seperate ways to be charged in a Provincial Park

1) Provincial Parks Act. Something like... greater than the posted speed limit with a set fine and no points....does not matter how far over the limit a person is (sounds like the offence you received)

2) Highway Traffic Act. Normal speeding fines and demerit points.

The offence says "Speeding - Provincial Park - More than 40km/h", and the reference is to the H.T.A. Reg 620 2(c) which is the provincial park speeding regulations. Just the fine it is then.

Are you saying that this offence has no implications on insurance ?

Remember a 0 demerit point charge is considered at least a minor infraction by your insurance and can cause your rates to go up.

Insurance companies do not care about demerit points. They are completely irrelevant to whether your insurance goes up or not.
