Opp Dropped Radar Tests, Now It Is In The News
They are going to have problems with outstanding radar tickets and hopefully will switch to LIDAR.

Well unfortunately it will take somebody with some money that can afford take a case to the supreme court to get this issue fixed. As long as the manual says they don't need to use tuning forks, the JP's in Ontario will continue to side with that.
Re: Opp Dropped Radar Tests, Now It Is In The News
Part of the reason we trust technology and accept it as evidence because we view it is impartial. If what the OPP said in the news story is true, it is very disturbing that they would opt to pressure the manufacturer to remove a test that physically verifies the device is working correctly rather than better police training.
Re: Opp Dropped Radar Tests, Now It Is In The News
To anyone familiar with the design and operation of electronic measuring equipment the situation involving radar gun testing in Ontario has always been a joke. Any device like this requires an external test against a standard to verify accuracy. A simple internal device test can verify the electronics are functioning but without an external test like a tuning fork, the value of a self test is next to useless. The fact that Ontario has been getting away with this scam for so long is a testament to how ignorant our politicians are when it comes to science.

Very true, but sadly, manufacturers such as Decatur have been marketing their equipment and falsifying the true accuracy of it and been getting away with it.
Anyone with electronic background knows that there is no such thing as 100% accurate, that is a total you know what...

100% accurate, within tolerance.
