Exemption Re Search Lights And Tinting Of Glass

Unread post by Carl Roy »

Are the police in Ontario exempt from the Highway Traffic Act to do with the tinting of the side windows of the unmarked cars.

Another question that has me bugged when the average person has a spot lamp affixed to there cruisers but when the lamp is not in use the beam is faced down the left fender facing on coming traffic.

The O.T.A. reads that that position is against the law but our Police officers

say that they are exempt.

Where would I find the ruling to do with this situation.

If a spotlight is not turned on there is no offence of any kind.

Something like a JEEP or pickups with the rollbar full of lights.....no offence unless the lights are on while on a highway. Most transports have 2 spotlights

Tint...any vehicle can have tint on the sides, behind the driver seat there is no limit to darkness.

Above is merely a suggestion/thought and in no way constitutes legal advice or views of my employer. www.OHTA.ca
