Tow Truck Operator In “no Truck Zone” Ontari
So i’m a tow truck operator whom is contracted to CAA and i drive a heno flatbed. I was pulled over today for disobeying the “No trucks” sign. To my knowledge tow truck operators are exempt from this sign because we are considered service vehicles. Especially if the vehicle we’re about to drop off or pick up is located on such streets. When i told the officer i should not be getting a ticket due to tow truck drivers being exempt. He kept on rambling about how my truck is 5 tonnes.
I’ve search online for an answer to this but no luck. I found a article for quebec that states that farm vehicles, tow trucks, etc are exempt from this, but not one for ontario

Were you actually ticketed, and if so under what Section of the HTA, and where did this occur?
If you look on the City of Toronto website, for example, you can see this:
Both forms of this regulation come with a necessary exemption that stipulates the prohibition does not apply to any vehicle actually engaged in making a delivery or a collection from a premises which cannot be reached except by way of a road or portion of road where heavy trucks are prohibited, but they may only travel on that road to the extent that is unavoidable in getting to/from that premises

Yes i was actually ticketed, and i was ticketed in brampton under HTA 182 (2) disobeying a sign.
Re: Tow Truck Operator In “no Truck Zone” Ontari
The Brampton bylaw regarding heavy trucks also has an exemption for trucks that are dropping off or picking up on a street that has a no truck sign. However, this only applies if you are actively engaged in a pick up or delivery on that street. If you were just driving down there on the way to somewhere else then you would need to show that there was literally no other way to get to where you were picking up or dropping off your load, otherwise you would be in violation.
Here is a link to the bylaw (scroll down to section 26): http://www.brampton.ca/EN/City-Hall/Byl ... 393TXT.pdf
Here is a list of the streets it aplys to: http://www.brampton.ca/EN/City-Hall/Byl ... 393S11.pdf
