What Are The Rights Of An Individual When Questioned ?
So I know this is not America and all the answers I would find on youtube are American based.
So this is based on a couple of interactions I had with police who where called to my house.
Specifically (I have not committed a crime or may have that's not important)
When answering the door (and also with being pleasant, not adversarial)
Do I have to:
1) ID myself, give my phone number, give my DOB
2) Can I refuse to answer any and all questions
3) I know giving false details is a no-no
4) Police can lie to me, can I also lie
5) Can I refuse to answer anything that may incriminate myself
6) Can I say, I only answer questions with my lawyer present
7) Can I tell them to "pound sand" unless they have a warrant
I "know" that sometimes it's best just to answer and there out of your hair, but I'm wary that police are not here to be your friend, there here to assign blame and or arrest you.
UK, Canada and US have all different feels,
With our rights now at the forefront. This is my concern.
If they were to take me in, (well could they) if I for example refused to answer or ID myself ? How long could they hold me for and could they charge me for.
Let's be clear, I'm not a bank robber, drug dealer, rapist or murderer, and let's just say, someone in the house was accused or reported of breaching the peace (no violence concerned) just stupid neighbors
Thanks again
