Stop Light Camera
it was 8.34 am on Saturday approx two weeks ago, just left the tire store after switching my summer tires. Coming down the hill at University towards light at University and Dale. No traffic at that time. Driving east the sun direclty in my eyes. It was a bright clear sunny morning and the sun was just coming up. I pulled my visor down trying to get a view of the stop light. Ever went from light to dark or dark to light?, you cannot see. I think it was amber but changed to red just as i got there. Naturally I get my pix taken in the middle of the intersection with the red. Do i have a chance in court?? I could not see the colour, was not speeding, road was clear and quiet.

Re: Stop Light Camera
You would not have a realistic chance of winning in court if you used that defence.
You could try pleading guilty and asking for a reduced fine. This particular offence, because it was taken by a red light camera, will not affect your insurance nor your driving record.

Re: Stop Light Camera
date of serice show Nov 23, which is Tuesday. The notice came on Friday. Any arguments here? Thanks.

Re: Stop Light Camera
IMO best route for these tickets is to get a reduced fine. You were caught on camera!

Re: Stop Light Camera
What happens is, 7 days after it is mailed to you, it is deemed "served" according to the regulations. That's just a provincial statute. If it arrived earlier or later, it is meaningless. It simply means that you have 15 days from the date of your deemed service to respond to the notice.
