Please Help Me Understand The Officer's Notes

Unread post by Bluebird »

First of all, thanks everybody for the wealth of information on this forum.

I asked and received disclosure for a speeding ticket 70 in 50 zone. I have attached the ticket and officer's notes here (JPG format). Can you please explain to me what is written there? I have no idea what he means.

What does 70 209 mean on the bottom of the first page? there is also something written above that.

On the second page starting with the top I see that he noted the weather of being dry. After that there is something that looks like 6 3 14. What is that?

The next row is probably the model of the LIDAR. The rest I do not understand.

Any clarification would be extremely helpful. I have not received anything else. Does that mean the prosecutor cannot ask the office questions in regards to the lidar testing and calibration procedures? I did not get the lidar manual or any pages from it in the disclosure.

Thanks a lot.

Wow that's chicken-scratch...

The part I can decipher is Atlanta 24072, tested 6:45 and 1:20 (so I'll assume that's before and after your stop)

Posted 50 zone

1.7 kilometres south of ??

And it looks like you got ticketed for going 70...

Not much help I can give you, I'm afraid.

Thanks Radar Identified.

The other thing is that I asked for disclosure in regards to any evidence the prosecution intends on bringing to court. As I said, I did not get a single page from the lidar manual. Can I ask the court to disregard any evidence given about the testing of the lidar - in case the prosecution starts questioning the officer about that?

Thanks a lot, your explanations are extremely helpful.

What is your advice about my second question: since the prosecutor did not provide the radar testing procedure, even though I asked for disclosure in regards to any evidence they will introduce, can I ask the court to not accept such evidence in case the prosecution starts asking the officer about these testing procedures?

At 4.7 km's though, at least the reading won't count in court.

Also, can I use the translator just to clarify some terms, or do I need to use him 100% at the time?

Charges Withdrawn

Unread post by Bluebird »

Just came back from the court - a pretty interesting experience. First of all, there where over 40 people there and I was the only one who pleaded not guilty and stuck to his guns. Isn't this strange???

After 20 minutes from the moment the court was in session, the prosecutor asked me to step outside so the officer can scare me into admitting I am guilty. He said I do not have any chance, that I waste the court time, that it will turn bad for me. Can you believe that???

And when everybody else had left the room, so I remained the only one, the prosecutor withdrew the charges. Interesting!!!

Thank God!

What reason did he give the JP for withdrawing the charges?

I am really sorry. I was too happy when I heard the magic word: "withdrawn", so I might have missed her explanation. From agony to ecstasy is but one step...
