Calculating The Fine
I'm sorry if this information is already been posted, but I have searched and have not been able to find it or what I have found seems to be old information. My understanding that the fine for this range is the number of kilometers over the limit x $4.50 but what else is added to get from the "Set Fine" to the "Total Payable". I believe there is a "victim surcharge" and/or "court cost" and/or taxes, but how is this calculated?
Re: Calculating The Fine
You're correct. Both the victim surcharge and Court costs are added.
Victim surcharges are calculated based on your initial fine. The higher the fine, the higher the victim surcharge.
Here's the table: http://www.e-laws.gov.on.ca/html/regs/e ... 0161_e.htm
As for Court costs, it's an additional $5 on everyday tickets.
Here's the table: http://www.e-laws.gov.on.ca/html/regs/e ... 0945_e.htm
Add these two items to the base fine and you should get the total payable.
