Passenger - Fail To Properly Wear Seat Belt

Unread post by CherryCheeryTop »

Hello. I recently got a ticket for not wearing a seat belt in the back seat. I do not mind paying the fine, but I was told I will lose 2 derimet points for this. I do not have a driver's licence yet was told by a friend that the points will be automatically be deducted after I get my license. Is this true?

Demerit points for seatbelt offences only apply to the driver, not passengers.

Passengers don't receive demerit points from seat belt violations. Although, if you happen to be under the age of 16, the driver would be responsible for any fines and demerit points.
