Hahaha, hilarious last few posts. I've heard the parking lights "are CITY lights!" argument before. What I don't get is the amount of Caravans using the amber marker DRLs at night with no headlights at all. They have to know that their headlights aren't on...right?

I've had arguments before with people who insist that they don't have to worry about lighting in their GM. ALL of the people I have had this argument with did not know there was a separate light switch to override the automatic headlights. Bah.

That's exactly what I meant. Of the sections that do actually apply to lane discipline (147 (1), maybe 148 (2)), none of them are regularly enforced like speeding and seatbelt laws are.

Bear, that's funny AND sad at the same time. this is a prime example of where lawmakers had good intentions but failed to predict the inevitable consequences of people not understanding the headlight system in modern cars. The factories did their job, but who taught all the naive drivers out there about the new system.

Our van has cryptic symbols on a lever style switch that took me a few minutes to figure out. My wife didn't know she had the option of manually turning on the lights. My old Lincoln has auto lights at night, but still retains the old "pull" knob style switch so when in doubt, just pull it out like they've been doing for decades.

Of course the government can never see the effects of what they do long term.

They dont see it now with all the money they are creating and expanding the monetary base, they forget about fractional reserve banking, when they sold the 407 they had no idea how much more traffic would end up on the 401.

The same goes for mandatory auto insurance and seat belts. These give people a false sense of security.

We have to many laws. I think ticketcombat said In germany you can drive drunk but the fines go up and insurance won't pay if you do.

This would work better than this. Even if they crash, insurance will pay and you just lose your license(most will still drive anyways).

I wonder in this province if insurance was not forced by law, if people would drive different, (take less risk), and it would be great because insurance companies could only charge what people could afford.

Government rarely sees the consequences of what they do. I know they don't see what limiting trucks to 105 will do without forcing them in the right lane only, in the states they didn't see the effects of forcing banks to lend to under qualified applicants while the fed was inflating and keeping the price of interest artificially low.

Some central banks have trippled and doubled the monetary base. I think they forget that this is the base which the fractional reserve system uses as a reserve upon which to make loan's and expand the supply of money. They also have no idea how much inflation they are going to create when this money enters the process.

Not surprised with that story. On my drive home tonight I saw three vehicles with only their daytime running lights on. They were also driving under the posted speed limit. "I'm safe because I obey the speed limit." Yeah... okay...

Also last week watched the Toronto Police set up a roadblock on my street due to a fire at an apartment complex down the road. The reaction of drivers was eye-popping. I wish I'd had a video camera. I'd have to say, despite the police giving out some well-deserved verbal tongue lashings, they were remarkably patient, particularly to the guy who put to wheels on the grass and attempted to drive around the police cars that were parked perpendicular to the road with their red & blues lit up. No tickets handed out, just lots of yelling.

Not me.

I have a fix for all of this. Every car on the road gets one of those Bugs Bunny hidden boxing gloves. Next this is tricky with the new law but every car get a cellular number displayed on the back window, or we used the license plate.

Now then, if Johnny Lanehog is sitting in the left lane or if Amanda Nolook cut you off or if Tony the Tiger is driving down the road eating his cereal, you copy down the number, lets say we all have digital cameras mounted with steering wheel activation, safety first here people. Now with the number you pull off to the shoulder, parking lot wherever.....and dial the number.

You pick if its a gut shot, head shot or kidney shot, press one of the following three options, and the dumb dumb gets the hint. We can even have call display, with a picture of you and your car, or just a Walmart happy face behind the wheel.

Whats that don't like the fist of fury? Then we can use a taser or cattle prod. Once again, dial the number and guzunt...... Then expect the pleasant wave as you drive by.

Last night on the way home I damn near used my bumper to knock some grampa in the good ol' Lincoln Towncar out of my way.....Why you ask, because at every intersection he hit the brakes and slowed to 35 KMH, in a 60 zone, with green lights and little cross bound traffic.......heh,heh,heh ....catching my breath...hang on. I was nearly rear ended three times by three different drivers because of him. Safety, no. When the light is green I expect to go...simple stuff. Wish I had my cattle prod. Rant off.

When I was in Manhatten I was amazed, everybody slows down or practically stops at green lights. I guess they're too scared to hit wayward pedestrians and deal with the lawsuit that follows.

Hey Reflections, what's going to stop the dumb dumb from dialing your number and getting you back for the gut punch? After all the ones who deserve it are the first to argue THEY were doing nothing wrong.
