Haha sorry i meant the next detachment for 75 km.
I am sure it happens. Its a different story with bikes.
I am sure even in traffic they can just go onto the shoulder or squeeze between trucks.
IMO to drive a 1000 CC sport bike your probally already a pretty edgy person, getting a fine for thousands, crazy insurance increase, and getting your bike taken away alot will just run away.
I wonder how hard it is to get a reading on one of them and some dont even have front plates.
If your under an overpass on the 407 and you manage to get some guy in a black sport bike going over 250, hes gone.... Unless someone else down the road is willing to stop or they block the overpass what can they do if they dont get the plate?
Now the use of a helicopter would change all this but at night this wouldnt work and they dont have a helicopter or OPP plane everywhere to catch some guy on a bike flooring it on an expressway late at night.
The way i see it if your in a bike and you want to go that fast around all kinds of trucks and obstacles driving slower, along with drivers who do not pay attention your just harming yourself.
You can go as fast as you want on a bike but if you hit some debry or lose control trying to run from a cop and fly into the concrete median you might end up paying with your life.
I am sure you guys get worried though. Even a tire squeal can get you under 172, insurance increase for rest of life, court date, impoundment. But can you imagine a cop trying to pull you over for lets say a broken signal light, then you run, and he has to come tell your family you ran away and crashed into a slab of concrete trying to run away from him...

MC travelling fast....catch up activate lights....if not stopping.......that would be FIDO.
We are not permitted to "spike" a MC.
MC are very difficult to obtain a reading on with lidar. Not too bad with radar.
I would be hesitant about going fast on the 407 and eluding, plates are recorded at exits.....might be some way to get the plate.....if that happens....could become an investigation and chances of losing the MC to a impoundment via HTA or CC.
Runners have a few methods at their disposal to hide their plates...
1) They get fender eliminator kits, hide'em so deep under the tail that they're dang-near invisible when you sit on it (and compress the shock), especially when bent upwards at a 45-degree angle. (In all honesty, 90% of people with this sort of a setup only get it to pose)
2) Interesting mounting bracket setups ranging from L-brackets and a piece of rope to electrically-actuated swing brackets.
3) Half-turning and covering the plate by hand (or having the passenger do it)
4) Before Bill 203, several guys would pop a wheelie goin' on and off.
5) Heard something about darkening plate covers but I haven't seen anyone use one of those.
To a smart rider, those are more trouble than they're worth. You can get ticketed and hassled for them and are unnecessary as long as you have half-decent throttle control and don't pull anything overly stupid in traffic.

Electrochromatic. They used to be widely available for purchase about 10 years ago. Most of the companies selling them have since mysteriously gone out of business.
I learned about those on CSI.
Thanks bear.
Your right never thought about that. But with a bike you can avoid those fines and just drive on the dirt and around the camera's
I was just making a reference on roads like the 400 or the 407 with many lanes and big shoulders some guys on bikes might get the idea its better to run then stop.
You know i always wondered how hard it would be to get a reading on a bike with lidar. Nothing on the front really to reflect, especially if black!
Can you sometimes not at all get readings on sport bikes because of this or just very limited distance?
I was reading an article talking about vehicle colours and lidar.
Does the colour really make a big difference.
I mean if you had the exact same car, a white one (being easiest to get a reading), and a black one (hardest to get a reading) would it make a big difference in distance for getting a reading using lidar?
I have heard some speed traps or officers doing speed enforcement will have a Radar Unit and a Lidar unit running at the same time?
I am guessing that sometimes its hard to get a reading with lidar depending on the situation so a radar unit would allow you to get a speed?
Mind you those units arent cheap i believe you posted the costs to me before or approximate costs.
I am just guessing here but it is my guess that all your marked cars have Built in Radar units, and lets say you guys have like 12 officers per *EDIT* and maybee 6 lidar guns?
Are the new lidar guns a bit better according to weather (rain), and vehicle colour? I believe you told me red is hard to get readings aswell.

Radar units are not "built in". Radar is on a mount that is bolted to the dash.
Colour of vehicle does not make a whole lot of difference.
I am guessing all OPP vehicles would have spectre's now to.

No.....our office only has 3...20% of the cruisers (and we are traffic)...guessing the general duties office only has 1 spectre for the whole fleet
Wow amazing i guess they cost alot, i would assume especially HSD units would have them in all cars.
Do call cars have a mounted radar unit like a Genesis 2?
Sorry i think i asked this before you guys get winter tires (H rated) and summer tires (V rated?)
Anyways that neat i thought you guys would get budgets so all cars would have a computer, gps, radar, lidar, and a spectre.
Those LED light bars cost alot but i like them you can see them from really far away they are very bright.

LED bars are less than 1/2 the cost of the previous light bar (no moving parts)
Wow bear no wonder they are becoming more common, LED's last WAY longer to.
I wonder why TPS (toronto police service) has not yet switched.
Peel has almost fully converted over with a few old impalas with the Big old school lights.
Mind you peel is starting to buy crown vics again.
They seemed to go on Charger Mania back in 06-07 and now i see alot of new impalas and crown vics.
Do all police forces in Ontario keep cars for 150 k before resell?
OPP HSD must eat through cars with all the time you guys spend on the 400 series lol.
But if you guys only keep to 150 k i still sometimes will see those old white /blue OPP cars with the old school lights?
I guess they keep them for Aux officers or days where they need extra "ride program blitzes etc"?
