What Is The Definition Of An Intersection?

Unread post by theraiser87 »

the law isn't clear

does it count as running a red light if i am passed the white line and a part of my car is in the pedestrian crosswalk on the street?

or is being past the white line all that is required to be considered inside the intersection and therefore not considered to be failing to stop at a red light.

the law isnt clear where an intersection is

Yes. When there is a stop line you must stop "at the sign or roadway marking indicating where the stop is to be made."

If you go over it, you could be charged with the red light offence.

On Soudan east off Holley going east (toronto). I always wondered about this sign/road line.

At dunfield there is a stop sign on the hydro pole about 3 meters before the stop line.

The stop line is equal with the middle of a driveway.

Most cars just slow down anyway (not really stopping)but I was always curious about the correct place to stop.

So I guess it is the stop sign.

This is actually the section for signalized intersections, not stop signs.

Stop signs are covered under section 136

Where the stop sign is posted usually has no bearing on where you are supposed to stop.

From there turn left and go east. At dunfield you will see a similar sign. The white stop line ends in the middle of a driveway.

No worries just curious.
